Kerry Caslow
Kerry Caslow is an environmental scientist with a passion for combining science, innovation, and working dogs to solve real-world environmental challenges. Throughout her career, she has led efforts to improve water quality monitoring, advancing field sampling practices, and developing more reliable data collection methods. Kerry has successfully demonstrated that dogs are a highly valued tool for locating sources of sewage pollution and for supporting watershed protection. In addition to her environmental work, she is an Associate Nose Work Instructor with K9 Nose Work. She is an active volunteer with the Salisbury NC Kennel Club and Lake Norman Kennel Club, where she helps promote responsible dog ownership through training classes and other events. Her goal is to help bridge the gap between science and canine capability to protect our natural resources while highlighting the amazing ability of working dogs.
K9 Zelda
K9 Zelda is the first environmental detection dog trained by WaterHounds and has been directly attributed to the successful sourcing of over a dozen sanitary sewer issues. She is a 6-year-old mixed breed rescued from the Rowan County Animal Shelter. In her spare time, she enjoys hiking, chasing mice in the yard, and hiding toys under the bed.
K9 Rush
K9 Rush is in training to become a sewage detection dog for a county storm water group. He was born in 2025 and started training in the spring of 2026. In his spare time, he enjoys dock diving, swimming in his pool, chewing bones, taking long walks, and playing with his family and friends.
